Troopers find 34 pounds of pot during Rhode Island Interstate 95 car stop
WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) — Authorities say state troopers who pulled over a driver for following too closely behind a bus on Interstate 95 in West Greenwich found 34 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle after smelling the pot.
Rhode Island State Police arrested 30-year-old Yin Liu, of New York City, on Friday after they searched his vehicle and found three large bags inside containing 34 vacuum-sealed, 1-pound bags of marijuana.
Liu was arraigned on charges of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute it and possessing more than 5 kilograms of marijuana. He also was issued a traffic citation for following too closely. He's being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institution. It wasn't immediately known if he is represented by a lawyer.
A status review is scheduled for Sept. 14.
