Prosecutors: Teen high when he stabbed friend with golf club

MALDEN, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts teenager charged with stabbing his friend with the broken shaft of a golf club has been held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Eighteen-year-old Curtis Day, of Beverly, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday to charges including attempted murder in connection with the stabbing Tuesday at a Wakefield park.

Prosecutors say Day was high on heroin and LSD when he stabbed the 18-year-old victim during a fight. Prosecutors say the golf club shaft entered the victim's back at the right shoulder and came out his chest. He has since been released from the hospital.

Day was caught after crashing a stolen car in downtown Wakefield.

Day's court-appointed attorney said he does not think there is enough credible evidence to support the prosecution.

    The dangerousness hearing is Friday.
