Two in custody after crash, carjacking, double-stabbing in Thompson

A man and woman who crashed a stolen car Thursday morning carjacked another, stabbing and cutting two women as they tried to steal that vehicle, state police said.

Massachusetts state police stopped the second stolen vehicle and took Christopher R. Harding, 21, and Celina R. Cousineau, 21, into custody, officials said. The two live in the Dayville section of Killingly.

About 10 a.m., police in Putnam responded to a carjacking at the Cumberland Farms on School Street, state police said. They learned that a white male in yellow pajama pants had walked up to the victim's car, pulled out a large knife and ordered the victim out, police said.

The suspect got in the car and headed north on Route 171. That car was later found crashed on West Thompson Road near Church Street in Thomspon, state police said.

The suspect, later identified as Harding, and a woman were spotted by witnesses walking on West Thompson Road after the crash, according to state police said. While walking, the two flagged down two women driving by in another vehicle. Harding ordered the driver out, and when she refused, he stabbed her, and when the passenger got out to help, he cut that woman as well, state police said.

Harding and the female suspect, identified as Cousineau, took the second car and headed east on West Thompson Road. State police said troopers in Massachusetts spotted them about 10:45 a.m., ordered them stop the vehicle and took them custody, Connecticut state police reported.

The two women who were stabbed were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime are applying for warrants to charge the two suspects, state police said.
