Hartford — Hartford does not schedule an annual parade to celebrate UConn's national championships in basketball, but they have become a regular event.

For the third consecutive year and the 12th time in the last 20 years, UConn basketball players are boarding double-decker busses at the state Capitol to parade an NCAA trophy around the city.

The victory parade was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the state Capitol and end at the XL Center, the downtown basketball arena, where a rally is planned.

This is the 10th title for the women. The school's men's team has won four championships. The teams held joint parades in 2004 and last season, when an estimated 200,000 people showed up for the event.
