Purvis plans to return to UConn

Rodney Purvis, the team's leading scorer last season, will return to UConn for his final year of eligibility.

That's great news for the Huskies, whose roster has taken a significant hit due to graduation and the early departure of Daniel Hamilton.

Purvis, a shooting guard from Raleigh, N.C., tested the NBA Draft waters before making his decision. He declined to sign with an agent, allowing him to keep his options open.

He didn't receive an invite to the upcoming NBA Draft combine.

He tweeted on Friday: "One more!!!! Sincerely, Purv."

Last season, Purvis averaged a career-best for points (12.8), rebounds (3.0) and assists (2.1) for the Huskies, who went 25-11 overall, won their first American Athletic Conference tournament championship and reached the NCAA tournament second round. He also was one of the team's best 3-point weapons, converting 38.5 percent.

After the season-ending loss to Kansas on March 19, Purvis stated that he planned on coming back for his final season.

While Hamilton elected to pursue a professional career and keep his name in the NBA Draft pool, center Amida Brimah has yet to announce his decision. Brimah is checking out his draft status without hiring an agent.

Brimah, who just completed his junior season, didn't make the NBA Draft combine list, so there's a good chance that he'll be back.

The deadline to make a decision is May 25.
