UConn men's basketball lands talented guard

UConn has attracted its share of talented guards during the men's basketball program's rich history.

Makai Ashton-Langford, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound point guard from Worcester, Mass., is the latest one to join the Huskies. He reached his decision on Monday after making an official visit to UConn over the weekend and posted his announcement on his Twitter account.

"I would like to thank all the schools that have recruited me but I have decided to continue to pursue my dreams and play for the University of Connecticut," he wrote.

During the four star recruit's visit, Jalen Adams, Ashton-Langford's former AAU teammate, served as his host. Ashton-Langford will attend Brewster Academy in New Hampshire this fall where Adams also played.

Ashton-Langford narrowed his list to UConn and Providence. He visited the Friars last week and met former Providence All-American Kris Dunn.

ESPN ranks him 33rd overall in the Class of 2017 and No. 8 at his position. He's coming off a successful summer during which he helped Mass Rivals capture four AAU tournament championships. He attended Cushing Academy last year.

Ashton-Langford is coach Kevin Ollie's first recruit in the Class of 2017.
