Storrs — Ready to celebrate the arrival of the college basketball season?

Then head to Storrs Friday night for UConn basketball First Night festivities at Gampel Pavilion.

Fans will get their first look at both the 2016-17 men's and women's programs. Admission is free to the annual event.

Both teams are expected to be ranked in the top 25 in the preseason poll. The women will be shooting for their fifth straight national championship while the men are attempting to return to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season and contend for their first title since 2014.

The First Night format is a little different this year.

Instead of an autograph session, the first 300 fans to sign up inside the South entrance of Gampel will take part in a "Selfie Session" with both teams starting at 5:30 p.m. On-the-court entertainment begins at 7, with the show kicking off at 7:30. There will be an intra-squad shooting contest, skills competition and a men's dunk contest as well as a Blue-White scrimmage.

Fans also are invited to watch the UConn volleyball team play against Central Florida at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3.

Parking will cost $5 per vehicle in the North and South garages.
