    Stewart sparks rout

    Ashley Castle of Post gets sandwiched between UConn's Kiah Stokes (41) and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis in the first half of Sunday's women's exhibition game at the XL Center in Hartford. UConn won 117-44. Stokes had 15 points, 14 rebounds and blocked seven shots.

    Hartford - Junior forward Breanna Stewart scored 27 points to lead five UConn players in doubles figures as the No. 1 Huskies closed out their exhibition season with a 117-44 win over Post at the XL Center on Sunday.

    Stewart was 11-for-14 from the floor and was joined in double figures by Morgan Tuck (22 points), Kiah Stokes (15), Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (15) and freshman Courtney Ekmark (13). Tuck had a team-high 15 rebounds and Stokes had 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

    Post shot just 25.8 percent for the game, making just 10 field goals. UConn held a 59-22 rebounding advantage and scored 29 points off of 21 Post turnovers. Moriah Jefferson had six steals for UConn.

    The Huskies led 40-7 10 minutes into the game behind 14 points from Stewart. A layup by Stokes made it 58-16 Huskies, and UConn took a 68-27 lead at halftime on a three-pointer from Ekmark in the final minute.

    UConn opened the second half with a 10-2 run.

    The Huskies open the regular season Friday at UC Davis. The game starts and 10 p.m., and isn't televised but is available on ESPN3.
