Aquarium extends reduced admission offer for EBT card holders through 2019

Mystic -- Mystic Aquarium has announced that it will continue to offer substantially discounted general admission to Connecticut SNAP EBT benefit cardholders throughout the year.

In 2018, the aquarium announced a year-long program to support Connecticut families receiving state assistance and found that more than 80,000 visitors took advantage of the offer.

While the aquarium said the original goal was to implement a one-year program, it has extended it through 2019 due to its “strong impact on children and families in the community.” The aquarium said that thousands of Connecticut families have already taken advantage of the reduced admission in 2019.

General admission tickets are available for $5 each for Connecticut SNAP EBT benefit cardholder and up to three guests. Children 2 and under are admitted free. Complete details are available at MysticAquarium.org.

Regular adult admission is $37.99 at the gate and $27.99 for children 3-13.

“Mystic Aquarium is focused on engaging communities throughout Connecticut in ocean conservation including communities that have not necessarily had access to a visit in the past,” said Dr. Stephen M. Coan, Mystic Aquarium’s president and CEO. “The success of the program has far exceeded our expectations. It has allowed us to deepen our commitment to community and provide more equitable access to the wonderful resources of the Aquarium for all residents.”
