Broken down car trips up traffic on Gold Star Bridge

Groton — A car that broke down in an inopportune spot tripped up traffic on the southbound side of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge Tuesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The car broke down in the far right lane near the top of the bridge around 1:45 p.m. Because of construction, only three lanes of the bridge are operational. For about 20 minutes, that was down to two.

The crash has since been cleared.
