New London — City police said three people were taken to the hospital following a crash early Saturday morning.

Emergency service personnel responded around 1:44 a.m. to the area of Broad and Center streets for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole. They found the vehicle with "significant front-end damage," and three people, who had been in the car, were outside the vehicle, police said.

The three were taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance for sustained injuries, police said.

The investigation remains active, according to police. Eversource also responded to the scene.
