    New London police arrest suspected car burglar early Thursday

    New London — Police said they have arrested a suspected car burglar who was allegedly trying to remove a car stereo in a Huntington Street parking lot early Thursday morning.

    Victor Rivera Jr., 24, of 73 Oneco Ave., No. 22, was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree criminal larceny attempt, interfering with police, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar's tools.

    Police had received a 911 call at 3:03 a.m. Thursday reporting that a man was breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot at 187 Huntington St., according to the police report. When police officers arrived, the suspect ran away. After briefly following him, police said they were able to apprehend Rivera.

    Rivera was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, police said.
