Cold spell settles over region
East Lyme — With a cold spell settling on the region Thursday, at least one extended family bundled up to brave the elements for a winter walk.
Isaac Emsheimer, 8, and family members including his sister Natalie, 11, dad Milton, all of Waterford, took a walk along Crescent Beach in Niantic with Isaac's aunt Silvia Emsheimer, cousin Lillian, 2, and uncle Edward, who are visiting from Brazil.
"This is way too cold for my Brazil blood," Silvia said before running back to the car. Her family has been quarantining with relatives in Waterford and the States for part of the COVID-19 pandemic.
High temperatures were forecast to remain in the low 20s in southeastern Connecticut on Friday and Saturday, according to the Meteorological and Weather Center at Western Connecticut State University.
