Plainville High School hosts 2nd annual technology education, engineering competition

Plainville — Plainville High School hosted the second annual Connecticut Technology Education and Engineering Association SeaPerch Competition in Plainville Thursday, April 4.

Students learned about robotics and the science, technology, engineering and math fields by building an underwater Remote Operated Vehicle. This year’s competition featured two challenging underwater events that were graded and evaluated by volunteer divers from the Navy Submarine Support Facility Dive Locker, submariners from the North Dakota, a submarine that is under construction at Electric Boat, and two engineering duty officers from Supervisor of Shipbuilding at Naval Sea Systems Command.

Thirty-eight teams from 11 schools across Connecticut registered to participate and more than a dozen Plainville High School students took part. Four teams will move on to the National Competition in Indiana, May 19.
