Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus in North Stonington

North Stonington — Mosquitoes collected in the town on Aug. 31 have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to Ledge Light Health District.
The presence of positive WNV mosquitoes, who primarily feed on amphibians and invertebrates, is normal in the summer. Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites and to reduce mosquitoes in the home.
