A fractured fairy tale: Panto to be performed in Norwich
A fresh production of “The Emperor’s New Clothes” turns the classic tale into a British-style panto, and it will be presented at the Norwich Arts Center this weekend and next.
A panto features broad characters, jokes, local references and audience participation. The folks behind the Norwich one say it’s a kind of “Fractured FairyTale.”
NAC Co-President Faye Ringel finished the script that Diana Bishop began before passing away in 2021. Mary Kay Kelleher directs a cast that boasts adults and children from the region.
“The Emperor’s New Clothes,” Norwich Arts Center, 62 Broadway, Norwich; from Dec. 9-18, at 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat., 2 p.m. Sun.; for all ages; $20 adults, $18 senior, military, student, NAC members, and free for kids under 10; (860) 887-2789, norwicharts.org.
