Recent letter was full of false, foolish claims

The Jan. 28 letter,"President protection bill shows his hypocrisy," attempted to show the hypocrisy of a change in Secret Service protection for presidents and their families with an assertion that the president and his cabinet are working "behind the scenes to disarm law abiding citizens."

The bill's chief sponsor, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), citing increased terrorist threats and "the greater mobility and youth of former presidents," argued the change in the 10-year limit to a lifetime limit was necessary for both Presidents Obama and G. W. Bush. The House of Representatives overwhelmingly supported the bill. The author's assertion that the president and his cabinet are working "behind the scenes to disarm law abiding citizens," is not supported by any facts. There is no credible source that shows this administration is attempting to disarm anyone. What is the source of such an outlandish claim? And if anyone is, in fact, working "behind the scenes," how is the author aware of it? Finally, the author states that the president has turned lying into an art form, and again not one single fact is provided to support that outrageous claim.

Perhaps a little more research and a little less Fox News and Drudge Report is in order.
