Sparks steal one from the Sun
Los Angeles — Kristi Toliver made a 3-pointer with 9.6 seconds remaining to give the Los Angeles Sparks a 70-69 win against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.
Nneka Ogwumike stole a Sun inbounds pass and the Sparks got the ball to up top to Toliver, whose first field goal of the game was the winner after the Sun’s Renee Montgomery missed a jumper on the final possession.
Toliver’s basket capped a comeback from four points down with 15 seconds remaining. Candace Parker’s hook shot in the paint got the Sparks to 69-67 before Ogwumike’s steal.
Alana Beard led the Sparks (13-15) with 18 points and Ogwumike had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Chiney Ogwumike led the Sun (11-18) with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
