The exhibit "Thanks For Being You," a celebration of the life and work of George K. Clarke (1950-2022) featuring his artwork, photography, poetry and prose, opens 5-8 p.m. Friday at Studio 33 in New London.

It runs through Feb. 11.

Sara Munro of Studio 33 is inviting community members to display their Clarke art collection pieces in the exhibit, be it a painting, sculpture, mobile, poem, prose, photograph, or any other creative expression created by him, and that of his friend, local artist, photographer, and volunteer Bernard Skrupsky (1945-2022). The gallery will also include the public’s art, poetry, prose, or found art that is inspired by either man.

The exhibit will include portraits by photographer Joe Standart, who photographed Clarke for his “Portrait of America, Faces of New London” in 2006 and again in 2016.

There will be a large Memory & Tribute Board set up in the gallery for the public to share memories, photos, or any expression of remembrance.

The exhibit is free to the public, but a donation jar will be available for people who want to make a donation for Eli’s Garden of Healing – A Healing Garden For Victims Of Violence in Hamden.
