Norwich Police Department adds two officers
Norwich - Norwich police have added two new officers to the department over the past week - a recent police academy graduate and a certified officer.
Officer Matthew Goddu graduated from the 339th Training Session at the Connecticut Police Academy on March 25 and has started his field training. Goddu, 24, of Waterford, is a 2006 graduate of Waterford High School who went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Springfield College in 2010.
Norwich Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro Sr. also announced the addition of Officer Daniel P. O’Reilly, 27, of Waterford. O’Reilly was sworn in on Monday and was expected to start field training.
O’Reilly, a 2004 graduate of East Lyme High School earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Connecticut. He is a graduate of the Connecticut Police Academy’s 337th Training Session, served as a police officer for the past year with the Bristol Police Department and has specialized training in DUI Recognition and Enforcement.
With successful completion of field training, both new officers will be assigned to the patrol division.
