Soundtrack for the season

Even by today's corporate/commercial standards, it's a bit early to be playing Christmas music.

And yet ... I've already listened to "White Wonderland" twice. It's not just a great batch of holiday faves, but it's a terrific local artist project headed up by Wayne Manca and including about 40 local musicians - all of whom you go see and hear on a regular basis.

Karl Kelly, Jim Carpenter, Jay Dempsey, Joe Greico, Ron Drago, Sandy Allen, Eddie Aledia and Laura Light are just a sampling. Virtually everyone involved will gather to launch the holidays with a "White Wonderland" release party at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sneekers Cafe, 568 Poquonnock Road, Groton; (860) 445-1967. Admission is free.
