AAA selling E-ZPass transponders in RI branches
Jamestown, R.I. (AP) — AAA Southern New England has announced it's now selling E-ZPass transponders at all of its Rhode Island branches.
Motorists can use the transponder to pay tolls on the Newport Pell Bridge, which is the only road or bridge in the state that has a toll. There are 14 states nationwide that accept the E-ZPass transponder at tolls. Rhode Island started accepting the transponder for payment in 2008.
AAA says consumers can buy a transponder at their branches for $20.95. AAA members will get a $2 credit.
The transponders are also sold at the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority offices and online at www.ezpassritba.com.
Motorists must provide proof of Rhode Island residency to buy the transponders.
