Chowder cook off held at Olde Mistick Village on Saturday
Take a look at these numbers: Based on past experiences, organizers expect close to 10,000 people to show up for this year’s Cabin Fever Charity Chowder Cook Off on Saturday … and to slurp down more than 26,000 cups of chowder.
The event returns for its 19th year, and visitors get to vote on what they think are the best chowders. The categories they can weigh in are the “People’s Choice Award” and Best Overall Chowder honors.
In addition, a team of professional judges will choose Most Creative Chowder, Heartiest Chowder, Best Use of Regional Ingredients, and Tastiest Chowder. Awards will be announced at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Village Meeting House/Chapel.
The event benefits Mystic-based charity Always Home, a non-profit agency dedicated to preventing family homelessness throughout southeastern Connecticut.
