Colin Hay brings his charming solo show Friday to New London’s Garde Arts Center, and there’s good news for everyone.

If you only know Hay as the former frontman for Australian New Wave heroes Men at Work, and want to hear their big hits, you’ll be fine. Hay proudly trots out “Overkill,” “Down Under,” “Who Can It Be Now?” and “It’s a Mistake.” (Wish he’d throw in “Everything I Need” but he might not.)

The intriguing part? A lot of folks will show up to hear Hay’s tunes from a prolific solo career, one which, while lacking the platinum sales of MAW, is much respected and rife with many wonderful and thoughtful pop tunes such as “Gathering Mercury,” “Waiting for My Real Life to Begin,” “Looking for Jack” – and possibly some interesting interpretations of material by the Kinks and Glen Campbell.

Oh, and he’s a funny as hell raconteur.
