Although I don’t claim to be an expert on the subject, I have attended a number of boat shows here in the Northeast, in California and even in the United Kingdom. The one thing that all these events had in common, as you would imagine, was boats. So I must give a tip of the hat to the City of New London for staging on Father's Day weekend a truly unique boat show − one with no boats. Really there were no boats. 

Unfortunately, this boat-less boat show can easily be seen as a metaphor for the performance of our mayor and his staff in general, lots of huffing and puffing but little or no follow through or results. 

It is no wonder that the Lighthouse Inn remains derelict after all this time; pathetic.
