    USS Hampton visits Groton

Escorted by the tug John. P. Wronowski, the U.S. Navy submarine USS Hampton (SSN 767) transits northbound on Thames River off Groton, Conn., bound for the submarine base Friday, April 22, 2016. The San Diego based Hampton recently completed training with the Groton-based USS Hartford in the Arctic and is stopping in Groton en-route to a 22-month scheduled Engineered Overhaul at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. The Hampton is the 17th vessel in the "improved" hull design of the Los Angeles class of attack submarines. (Sean D. Elliot/The Day)
