Cale Dodd, George Shingleton play Wolf Den shows

    George Shingleton (Contributed)

    Time, man: It's relentless.

Remember when the PR folks came up with the radio phrase "Young Country" to differentiate then-new Nashville artists from Willie and the Ol' Possum and Merle and the like? Well, now the "Young Country" artists are approaching codger-ness, and even the subsequent and so-called "Bro Country" folks are getting old.

Two even-newer rising C&W stars visit the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den this weekend for respective free shows. Tonight, George Shingleton entertains and, on Friday, Cale Dodds sings. Interestingly, thinking about the past, these guys are stylistically dipping into the archives. Shingleton throws down a '70s sound that recalls the Rusty Weir/Jerry Jeff Walker glory days of Austin; Dodds, on the other hand, channels the smoother, Ronnie Milsap/Steve Wariner era in the '80s.

    Good stuff from both.

George Shingleton, 8 tonight, Mohegan Sun Wolf Den; free; 1-800-745-3000.

Cale Dodds, 8 p.m. Friday, Mohegan Sun Wolf Den; free; 1-800-745-3000.
