    James P. Morris, 88 Madison

    James P. Morris, 88, of Madison, died Nov. 9 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Diana A. Vamvakias Morris. He was born in Rockville on Jan. 1, 1921, son of the late Peter and Irene Klemes Morris. During World War II, he served his country in the Pacific Theater as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps and, after the war, received his bachelor's degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Soon after graduation, he met and married his wife Diana. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Far East, where Jim had taken a job as a pilot with China Air Transportation. While in the Far East, they lived in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Soon after they returned to the United States, he and his wife opened the Hob-Nob restaurant in Madison, which they operated for 22 years. Jim also became actively involved in SARAH and was the first president of the SARAH Home Residential Services. During retirement, he and his wife spent much of their time in Merida, Mexico, along the Yucatan Peninsula.

    Soon after they returned to the United States, he and his wife opened the Hob-Nob restaurant in Madison, which they operated for 22 years. Jim also became actively involved in SARAH and was the first president of the SARAH Home Residential Services. During retirement, he and his wife spent much of their time in Merida, Mexico, along the Yucatan Peninsula. Besides his wife, Jim is survived by his beloved son John Morris of Madison; two brothers, Christopher Morris of Waltham, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Morris of Florida; and a sister, Marie Rohland of Madison. He is also survived by a dear, dear friend, Linda Huntley, and many cherished nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by two sisters, Penelope and Katherine Morris.

    Besides his wife, Jim is survived by his beloved son John Morris of Madison; two brothers, Christopher Morris of Waltham, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Morris of Florida; and a sister, Marie Rohland of Madison. He is also survived by a dear, dear friend, Linda Huntley, and many cherished nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by two sisters, Penelope and Katherine Morris. Funeral services were held on Nov. 14 at Saint Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church, Orange. Burial was in Westside Cemetery, North Madison.
