What are the major issues for your town? Meeting the current needs of the community and looking ahead with a vision for the future without increasing the tax burden are the major challenges facing almost every municipality over the next several years. Under Paul Formica, East Lyme has taken the lead on these major issues. The improvements on Main St, the expansion of parking facilites near the business district, and addressing the Town's future water needs shows the Town's governing body has the ability to provide for the current needs of the residents and is taking steps to prepare to meet future needs. Following this current course will allow East Lyme to continue to provide the best possible services for its residents now, and in the years to come.

What makes you the best candidate for this office? Serving on the Board of Education for the last 14 years, and working as the Resident Trooper in Salem for the last 19 years, have allowed me to understand the workings and challenges of a municipality. Interacting with members of the community on a day to day basis is a large part of both my profession and my service as a member of the Board of Education. My ability to listen to the concerns of residents and assist them in the resolution of those concerns are qualities that make a candidate who can succeed as a member of the East Lyme Board of Selectmen.

What was the last book you read, and what did you think of it? The last book I read was the autobiogarphy "A General's Life" by Omar Bradley. I found it in used book store and thought it offered an excellent perspective of his life as a leader and a career soldier. It chronicled his life from his days as a cadet at West Point through his appoitment as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It gave great insight as to how he was able to resolve conflict both on and off the battlefield.
