UConn men get commitment from Long Island star

UConn received a commitment from a promising young recruit after he visited Storrs on Wednesday.

Kentan Facey, a 6-foot-9 forward at Long Island Lutheran, gave the Huskies an oral commitment, according to a report in the New York Post. Facey, a member of the Class of 2013, is from Trelawny, Jamaica and came to the United States in 2011.

Facey followed UConn's run to the 2011 NCAA championship.

"That was the only school I knew anything about when I came to the states," Facey told the New York Post. "I was always a UConn fan. I always liked UConn."

USC, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Louisville, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's and Memphis also expressed in interest in Facey, whose stock improved over the summer. His strengths are rebounding and shot blocking.

Facey met with UConn president Susan Herbst during his visit.

"It just felt right at the moment," Facey told the Post about his decision. "Everything was just perfect - the situation, the campus is beautiful, the coaching staff is superb, all of that came together."
