Elaine Grimsell Dodge of Gales Ferry and Brian Beckwith of Niantic, together with Jo Anne and Jay Miller of Forest, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of Abbey Clark Beckwith and Derek Robert Miller.

Abbey graduated from Ledyard High School and went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 2006 with a bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude, in human development and family studies. She graduated from the College of William & Mary with master of education and educational specialist degrees in school psychology in 2007 and 2009. Abbey is employed as a school psychologist in Virginia.

Derek graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in Forest, Va. He went on to graduate with high honors from the University of Virginia in 2006, earning bachelor of arts degrees in anthropology and archaeology. He received his master of arts degree in anthropology from the College of William & Mary in 2008. Derek is currently a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at the College of William & Mary.

A June 2013 wedding is planned.
