    Report: Calhoun still contemplating future

Another day, another story about UConn coach Jim Calhoun contemplating his retirement.

But this story is worth taking seriously.

In an interview with Mark Blaudschun, who wrote the article for SI.com, Calhoun said he plans to make a decision whether he'll continue to coach or not in the next couple of weeks.

"I would be very, very surprised if I didn't have something to say within the next two weeks," Calhoun told Blaudschun.

Calhoun has known Blaudschun, a former Boston Globe reporter, since the Hall of Fame coach's time at Northeastern.

At the very least, Calhoun is now clearly leaning toward retiring.

He's still recovering from a broken hip suffered in a bicycle accident in early August.

Calhoun has always said that he'd make any decision about retiring in the fall.

He's stated in the past that he wants assistant coach Kevin Ollie to be the next head coach.

By retiring just weeks before the first official practice of the 2012-13 season, athletic director Warde Manuel would have few options to replace Calhoun.
