Pillow fight in New London leads to arrest
New London — A local man was arrested Tuesday after police said he attacked another man with a pillow and stole the victim’s car keys and money from his pants pocket.
Richard Parker Jr., 36, of 15 Bragaw St. was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, possession of hallucinogens, interfering with an officer, interfering with a 911 call, driving with a suspended license, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police said they responded to a domestic dispute at 15 Bragaw St. about 11:25 p.m. Monday, where the victim and Parker were arguing over the use of the victim’s car.
The verbal dispute escalated when Parker hit the victim several times with a pillow, reached into the victim’s pocket and removed the car keys and cash.
Parker fled the area in the victim’s 2002 Toyota Camry. Police searched the area for Parker without success.
At 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, police returned to the residence to check on the victim and saw the victim’s car parked across the street from the residence. Police said Parker was sitting in the driver’s seat.
While police were taking Parker into custody, they said he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Police said they found what appeared to be illegal narcotics inside the car, in Parker’s possession.
