Make a difference: Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center

WHO: Kathleen, a grandmother raising her grandsons, ages 7, 5 and 3.

AGENCY: Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, 27 Chase St., Pawcatuck.

SITUATION: Kathleen works full-time as a waitress to support the boys but her bills keep mounting. "The boys might not be sharing Christmas together this year if it weren't for their hard-working grandmother," said neighborhood center Director Vicki Anderson.

WHAT TO GIVE: A microwave oven, frying pans and Tupperware. Gift cards to Walmart, Payless Shoes and supermarkets, or gas cards. Flannel sheets for the boys' single beds as well as warm clothing. The boys like Legos, Hot Wheels, remote-control cars, stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books. Kathleen would like to take the boys to Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium and the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center if she had a family membership.

TO DONATE: Contact Anderson at (860) 599-3285, ext. 14. Indicate donations are for "Make A Difference family."
