In her op-ed, "Hillary preparing for 2016 election?," (Dec. 6), in which she harshly criticized Israel for planning construction in a small area near its capital known as E1, Maureen Dowd might be more credible if she took a look at a map and didn't misrepresent the writing of others.

Dowd ascribed to New York Times reporters Jodi Rudoren and Mark Landler writing of the project "it could prevent the creation of a viable, contiguous Palestinian state by closing off the West Bank from East Jerusalem."

Rudoren and Landler did not say the project would close off the West Bank from "East Jerusalem" and a look at a map shows it wouldn't. A look at a map also shows that even what Rudoren and Landler did write is also false.

The saying in the computer industry "garbage in, garbage out" certainly applies to Dowd's column.

In an article in the Hartford Courant, it was noted that "For nearly two decades, Israeli governments had agreed to U.S. requests to freeze development of E1."

In the vain hope of enticing the Arabs into making peace, Israel has too long restricted the natural development of Jewish communities; it's time to move on.
