Blame video games for violent culture

Our nation and the world is mourning the loss of so many innocent young people; all of our thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families and the families of those that were involved at the school.

In the wake of this tragedy, we, as a nation look for answers as to why - the cry for gun control being foremost.

I believe that gun control is not the answer. When are we going to address the countless mind-numbing violent games that are so much in demand by our younger generations?

The realism of the graphics in these games all have a tendency to trivialize death and destruction in the minds of our youth. The use of these "games" by younger and younger children is appalling.

It seems that we as a society, find it much easier to allow our children to engage themselves with these games as a means of an electronic surrogate for the parents.

It's time to remove the blinders and look around.
