If the title hadn't already been taken, they could have called this dark comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love." A history teacher is just out of a psychiatric ward after beating up the man he found in the shower with his wife. Still on edge and intent on getting his wife back, the bipolar Pat moves in with his eccentric parents and meets a young widow who's as off-the-wall as he is. Bradley Cooper is perfectly fine as Pat, but it's the rest of the cast that really shines. Robert DeNiro is back on his game as Pat's OCD father. Jennifer Lawrence - who, at 22, would seem too young to play Cooper's love interest - aces it. She's tough and in-your-face and slightly unhinged but vulnerable, too. The fact that the Cooper and Lawrence characters end up in a dance competition reeks of schmaltz, but director David O. Russell keeps the whole movie grounded.
