Lake Street Dive in concert at the Kate
First things first: There's no R. It's Lake Street DIVE, not Drive. Which certainly gives you a different idea about what this band's vibe might be.
The group, which performs tonight at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, calls upon classic R&B, pop, and jazz and gives everything a fresh twist. That's evident in their original songs, of course, and also on their latest EP, "Fun Machine," which features unique takes on the likes of Hall and Oates' "Rich Girl" and the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back."
Lake Street Dive, which the members founded back when they were all students at Boston's New England Conservatory, consists of singer Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, drummer Mike Calabrese and guitarist/trumpet player Mike "McDuck" Olson.
