Bradford woman wins $5,000 in Westerly credit union contest

Leonora Cacabelos of Bradford, R.I., won the $5,000 Grand Prize in the Westerly Community Credit Union Savings Challenge.

The Grand Prize was unveiled at a Savings Challenge Finale held at the Credit Union's Granite Street office on Jan. 17. Excitement was raised with drum rolls offered by Franklin Patton, drummer for the Westerly Band.

Cacabelos joined Westerly Community Credit Union after she moved to Rhode Island from Maine.

The Credit Union's Savings Challenge ran from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. The challenge encouraged members to open a Savings Challenge CD. Each deposit of $25 entered them into quarterly drawings and the Grand Prize drawing.
