    End Hunger Connecticut! Expands Outreach Capacity

    End Hunger Connecticut! Welcomes Child Nutrition Coordinator, Development Director and School Breakfast Navigator

    Statewide anti-hunger and food security organization expands outreach capacity

    Hartford, Conn. (February 20, 2013) – End Hunger Connecticut!, a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization, with headquarters in Hartford, today announced it has welcomed three new staff to its dynamic team. New team members include Heidi Green of West Hartford, who will serve as Development Director; Genevieve Caron of West Hartford, who will serve as Child Nutrition Coordinator; and, James Crawford of Westbrook, who will serve as School Breakfast Navigator.

    “We are excited to expand our dynamic team and enhance our outreach capacity,” Lucy Nolan, Executive Director, End Hunger Connecticut!, said. “Each of our new team members brings a wealth of expertise to End Hunger Connecticut! and we look forward to engaging them to help ensure access to and participation in federal food programs available throughout the State.”

    Prior to joining End Hunger Connecticut! Ms. Green served as the Leadership Gift Officer at Trinity College and as President of 1000 Friends of Connecticut. During her tenure with 1000 Friends of Connecticut, a statewide smart growth education and advocacy organization, Ms. Green led fundraising and lobbying efforts. She was instrumental in securing both legislative wins and seven-figure gifts for the nonprofit. At End Hunger Connecticut!, Ms. Green will spearhead fundraising efforts and strengthen relationships with both key funders and community partners. She holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Trinity College.

    Ms. Caron comes to End Hunger Connecticut! having served most recently as a Food System Consultant for United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and the New London Food Policy Council. In her role, Ms. Caron developed a strategic plan for collaboration with key community stakeholders and conducted a food system assessment of New London County. At End Hunger Connecticut!, she will serve as Child Nutrition Coordinator, working to increase the number of children and schools participating in the federal Child Nutrition Programs, with a focus on the Summer Nutrition Programs and

    At-Risk After School Meal Program (‘Suppers’). Ms. Caron holds a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University.

    A former State Representative and teacher, Mr. Crawford brings an extensive background in education and state politics to End Hunger Connecticut! Mr. Crawford is past president and treasurer of the Westbrook Education Association where he served as the lead negotiation for three district contracts. In his role as School Breakfast Navigator, Mr. Crawford will help accelerate the efforts of the CT No Kid Hungry Campaign and School Breakfast Expansion Team (CBET) to increase the number of schools and students participating in the federal School Breakfast Program.
