East Lyme - Town police early this morning charged a Middletown woman with drunken driving after police said she was stopped for traveling 80 mph in a 35 mph zone on Route 161.

Shannon L. Langley, 42, of Middletown faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reckless driving following the 1:38 a.m. incident. 

Police said Langley was stopped for speeding and refused to complete a field sobriety test.

Langley was held on bond pending an appearance today in New London Superior Court.
