Two men arrested on robbery charges in Groton and Ledyard this week both are accused of ripping people off during drug deals last fall.

Corey M. Wynn, 26, of New London allegedly attacked and robbed a man who had agreed to buy a half-pound of marijuana from him in Groton on Nov. 2.

Wynn was arraigned Wednesday on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, breach of peace and illegal sale of controlled substance.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Groton Town police were called to the Pequot Medical Center, where a man claimed he had been hit over the head with a pistol. The victim initially said that he had been attacked and beaten as he walked on Vergennes Court. The victim later admitted he had gone to buy $2,000 worth of marijuana from Wynn and was sitting in a car with him when a man appeared on the passenger side of the car and stuck the gun in his face.

Wynn is on special parole, having been convicted in 2008 and sentenced to four years in prison for a string of crimes that included a drive-by shooting in Norwich, assaulting his girlfriend while she held their infant daughter and drug dealing.

At his arraignment, Judge Stuart M. Schimelman set Wynn’s bond at $100,000 and continued the case to May 22.

In the Ledyard robbery case, David B. Dixon Jr., 23, is accused of robbing a man who had agreed to purchase a pound of marijuana for $5,000. The man, who was with three other people, told police Dixon and another man had held them up during an October meeting on Crocker Hill Road, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Ledyard officers traveled to Allentown, Pa., Wednesday to extradite Dixon and serve him with a warrant charging him with three counts of first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm in a felony, criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree strangulation, threatening and third-degree larceny.

At his arraignment Thursday, a judge set bond at $250,000 and continued the case to May 21.
