Second guilty plea in Norwich stabbing

Twenty-one year-old Sequoya Reels-Felder pleaded guilty this morning in Norwich Superior Court to stabbing a man in Norwich on June 8, 2012, a crime that also resulted in a felony conviction for Reels-Felder's older brother.

Reels-Felder, of Mashantucket, will be sentenced Aug. 15 to up to four years in prison for first-degree assault.

His brother, Jukumu Reels-Felder, 21, pleaded guilty in April to accessory to first-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment and is scheduled to be sentenced July 22 to up to three years in prison.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit in the case, the brothers had a long-standing dispute with victim Tomar Gibson from when they attended Ledyard High School together.

According to the court document, Gibson and a friend were walking on Cliff Street when the two brothers approached in a 2012 Ford Explorer driven by Jukumu Reels-Felder. Witnesses said Reels-Felder struck Gibson in the back of the legs with the vehicle, knocking him to the ground. Sequoya Reels-Felder stabbed Gibson with a knife, according to the witnesses. The two men got back in the car and drove away.

Gibson suffered multiple stab wounds in the leg and buttocks but was not cooperative with the police investigation.
