    Shoreline Gymnastics Competes in State Championships

    Shoreline Gymnastics of Old Saybrook competed at the State Championships throughout March, April and May 2013.

    All Prep Opt teams were represented and competed in Trumbull on April 20-21st 2013. The novice team included Emma Anderson (Pawcatuck), Hope Femia (Old Lyme), Tyra Finkeldey (Old Saybrook), Chole Folts (Essex), Haley Mahon (Lyme), Riley Nelson (Old Lyme), Ella Page (East Lyme), Rachel Reed (Old Saybrook), Catherine Saucier (Waterford), Chloe Scott (Madison) and Abby Walton (Madison). Strong individual performances on bars included Rachel Reed (third); and floor Haley Mahon (third) and Ella Page (tied for third). Additional novice team members placed in the top 10 for states on many events.

    The intermediate team included Sarah Cartelli (Ivoryton), Caroline Crowell (Ivoryton), Saige Deveau (East Lyme), Grace DeVries (East Haddam), Isabella Donohue (Old Saybrook), Grace Eekhof (Madison), Grace McLaughlin (Old Saybrook), Anastasia Muckle (Old Lyme), Caroline Petchark (Waterford) and Tammi Welge (Old Saybrook). Strong individual performances on vault included Grace McLaughlin (second); bars Anastasia Muckle (second); beam Grace McLaughlin (second) and Anastasia Muckle (tied for third); and all around Anastasia Muckle (second). Additional intermediate team members placed in the top 10 for states on many events.

    The advanced team included Becca Anderson (Madison), Caroline Gonsalves (East Lyme), Meg Lavin (Madison), Carrie Mecca (Colchester) and Olivia Pugliese (Old Saybrook). Strong individual performances on vault included Caroline Gonsalves (third) and Meg Lavin (third); beam Becca Anderson (third) and Caroline Gonsalves (third); floor Caroline Gonsalves (first); and all around Caroline Gonsalves (second). Additional advanced team members placed in the top 10 on many events.

    Levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 were also represented. The Level 4 team competed in New Milford on April 7th 2013 and included Ella Ferrucci (Essex), Madeline Fraser (East Lyme), Helena Gernhardt (Old Saybrook), Abigail Maynard (Waterford), and Emily Smith (Clinton). Strong individual performances for Level 4 on vault included gold medals for Abigail Maynard, Madeline Fraser and Ella Ferrucci; bars gold medals for Helena Gernhardt and Madeline Fraser; floor a gold medal for Helena Gernhardt; and all around gold medals for Helena Gernhardt and Madeline Fraser.

    The Level 5 team competed in Dayville on May 18-19th 2013 and included Megan Cravinho (Old Lyme), Meghan Kapij (Old Saybrook), Madeline SanMarco (Madison), Amanda Rowe (Waterford) and Katie Shaughnessy (Mystic). Strong individual performances on vault included Katie Shaughnessy (third). Additional Level 5 team members placed in the top 7 for states on many events.

    The Level 6 team competed in Dayville on May 18-19th 2013 and included Alexandra Bishop (Old Saybrook), Elizabeth Cravinho (Old Lyme), Addison Marchese (Essex), and Haley Smith (Clinton). Strong individual performances on vault included Elizabeth Cravinho (second) and Addison Marchese (second); and beam Alexandra Bishop (second). Additional Level 6 team members placed in the top 7 for states on many events.

    The Level 7 team competed in New Milford on April 6th 2013 and included Lindsey Jones (Groton), Leah Leffingwell (Killingworth), Erin Naclerio (Madison) and Kate Ryan (East Haddam). Strong individual performances on vault included Lindsey Jones (tied for second). Additional Level 7 team members placed in the top 10 for states on many events.

    The Level 8 team competed in Hamden on March 23-24th 2013 and included Kylie McCarthy (Old Lyme), Katie Seegert (Old Saybrook) and Morgan Staehle (Oakdale). Strong individual performances on vault included Katie Seegert (third); and beam Katie Seegert (second). All Level 8 team members placed in the top 10 on multiple events, including vault, bars, beam, floor and all around.

    The Level 9 team competed in Hamden on March 23-24th and was represented by Megan McNeil (Pawcatuck). Megan had a strong performance in States and included second place on beam and third place on vault. Megan also placed fourth on floor and all around and was tied for fourth on bars.
