    Montville Democrats endorse candidates

Montville — The Democratic Town Committee endorsed five candidates for Town Council on Thursday evening, including newcomer Tim May.

Incumbents Joe Jaskiewicz, Billy Caron, Chuck Longton and Laura Tanner were endorsed. May is currently the chairperson of the Water Pollution Control Authority.

The Democrats did not renominate current Town Council Chairperson Candy Buebendorf.

While there are seven open seats on the council, Democrats only endorse five candidates because rules stipulate that no more than five councilors can be from a particular party, said Caron.

For the Board of Education, Democrats endorsed incumbents Todd Pomazon and Sandra Berardy, as well as newcomer Valerie Smith, who would fill one of three other open seats on that board.

Democrats also renominated the current chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals, John McNeil. They nominated Richard Gladue for a seat on that board as well.

Anne Matson was nominated for a two-year term on the Board of Assessment Appeals and Stan Gwundz was nominated for a four-year term on that board.
