    UConn stars help U.S. U19 women remain unbeaten

    Three UConn players made major contributions as the United States women remained unbeaten with an 88-54 win over Canada on Tuesday in the second round of the FIBA U19 World Basketball Championship in Panevezys, Lithuania.

    Team USA meets unbeaten France (both teams are 5-0) in the final second round game today that will determined the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds in Group F for the medal round, which begins in Friday.

    Breanna Stewart scored 14 points and blocked four shots, Morgan Tuck had 13 points and four steals and Moriah Jefferson added seven assists and three steals for the U.S., which broke the game open with a 19-0 run late in the second quarter and early into the third quarter. Alexis Jones of Duke scored nine of her 17 points during that burst and Stewart began third third quarter by hitting three straight shots.
