Police: New London man violates protective order hours after it was issued

    Jose Rodriguez

New London — A New London man was arrested Monday after police said he violated a protective order that was issued by a New London Superior Court judge earlier in day.

Jose Rodriguez, 52, of 62 Jay St., appeared in New London Superior Court Monday, where he was arraigned on a breach of peace charge. He was arrested on that charge on Friday in New London and held over the weekend on a $2,500 bond.

The court on Monday issued the protective order, which said that Rodriguez could not enter the victim’s residence and that he must stay 100 yards away from her. The court also said that he must be escorted by police to retrieve his belongings.

Police said Rodriguez went on his own to the residence and came into contact with the victim.

Police charged him with violation of a protective order. He is being held on a $25,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in New London Superior Court.
