Motor vehicle stop in Ledyard leads to drug arrest
Ledyard — A motor vehicle stop on Shewville Road Tuesday evening led to the arrest of a local man on numerous drug charges.
Austin L. Cannon, 35, of 14 Jessica Lane, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, driving with a suspended license and speeding.
Police said at about 5:45 p.m. a Ledyard police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Shewville Road when the officer stopped Cannon's car for speeding.
Police said after conducting an investigation, a Ledyard police K-9 was summoned to the scene, which led to the discovery of both crack cocaine and marijuana.
Cannon was transported to Troop E, where he was held on a $25,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in New London Superior Court.
