Indians' Rubino Signs with Sacred Heart University

Senior Guilford pitcher Nikolaus Rubino signed a National Letter of Intent on Nov. 13 at Guilford High School to play baseball at Sacred Heart University beginning in the fall of 2014. Sacred Heart competes in the Northeast Conference of Division I under Head Coach Nick Giaquinto. Rubino is a four-year varsity starter for the Indians under Head Coach Brian Hayden. Rubino also plays for the Connecticut Bombers, coached by Bob Turcio, outside of baseball season. On the mound for the Indians, Rubino had 42 innings pitched with 55 strikeouts and was ranked 12th in the state for strikeouts with two combined no-hitters. Rubino led the SCC Hammonasset Division in strikeouts two years in a row and played on the Connecticut Junior All-Star team after the 2013 season.
