Ledyard — For a short time Tuesday afternoon, it appeared as though Santa could end up on the naughty list this year.

Police received a report of a man dressed in a full Santa outfit who was smashing out a car window on Inchcliffe Drive.

It turns out Santa was breaking into his own car after locking the keys inside, police said. Santa was on his way to a friend’s house to put on a show for children and was in a rush to leave.

Police did not file charges.
